General
Description
This series of pilot operated 8316 valves has spring return diaphragms
with integral seats, resilient
discs, and stainless steel trim and hardware.
They are controlled through a special selection gasket which, by
following the instructions on the gasket cover, allows a choice of
internal or external piloting. They are ideally suited for actuator
control systems.
The valves are available in three solenoid versions: standard, low power
and intrinsically safe.
Applications
For emergency shutdown of a process control valve controlled by a
typical 3 to 15 psi signal: locate the solenoid valve in the signal
line, position the selection gasket for external piloting, and provide a
suitable external pilot source of 15 to 150 psi. When the electric power
is interrupted, or the auxiliary air falls below the proper auxiliary
pressure, the solenoid valve will exhaust the signal air from the
process valve actuator, shifting the process valve to its original
position.
If used in the internal pilot mode, in the event of loss of electrical
power, the valve shifts to its original position.

Improtant: For use on clean, dry air or inert gas filtered to 50
microns or better. Instrument air in compliance with ANSI/ISA standard
S7.3-1975 (R1981) exceeds these requirements. To prevent freezing, dew
point of the media should be at least 18°F below the minimum
temperature to which any portion of the clean air or inert gas system
could be exposed.

"IS" Valves: FM J.I.3 W848 AX (3610) CSA File
LR-13976-116C. Solenoid Operator WPIS8003300.
Standard and Low Power valve with or without prefix "EF":
UL approved and CSA certified under the General Purpose Valves
Classification.
Installation:
All valve may be mounted in any position. Stainless steel mounting
brackets are available. Add suffix "MB".
Ordering Information: Important: We must have catalog
number, voltage and Hertz.
